Together with co-promoter partner „Chino Maidana Promotion“ and the still young US boxing promotion „P4P Entertainment“, the organizers promise an exciting night of boxing with top-class international athletes.
The fact that youth does not necessarily mean inexperience has been impressively demonstrated by Legacy Boxing in recent months at various world championship boxing events in the major cities of the Arab Emirates and Europe. This also applies to co-promoter Chino Maidana Promotion, for whom this is also the first co-promotion event in the USA. The third promoter in Texas is the local US boxing promotion „P4P Entertainment“, which is also celebrating a premiere with its first live TV broadcast on the relevant channel ESPN Knockout and the PPV streaming platform FITE.
In sporting aspects, the aim is to continue where it began successfully with the IBF world championship victory and title defense of Fernando „Puma“ Martinez in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Austin Trout faces local hero Jose Sanchez Charles in the main event
In the main fight of the evening, former WBA world champion Austin Trout (37), who draws his experience from fights with greats such as Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, the Charlo brothers and Erislandy Lara, will face Mexican Jose Sanchez Charles as a serious opponent. Jose Sanchez Charles, who is based just 15 km from the venue and thus enters the ring as an absolute local hero, has an impressive fight record of 20 – 2 – 1 (12 knockouts). Austin Trout holds as a top 10 member of the IBF world ranking and a record of 35 – 5 – 1 (18 knockouts) against it. The fight is scheduled for eight rounds and attracts with a promising ranking in the international world rankings.
The other highlight of the evening is the re-match between Samuel Castaneda and Julio Sanchez.
The second main fight of the evening will be a real highlight especially for the locals. The two athletes already faced each other in October and fought to a draw in an even fight. The event in Texas on December 9 will now finally show who is the better.
From the joint team of „Chino Maidana Promotion“ and „Legacy Boxing“ will box the Junior Gold Olympic winner and WBO Youth World Champion Brian Arregui and thus celebrate his USA debut in Hidalgo. He will be supported by special guest and boxing superstar Marcos „Chino“ Maidana, who is from the same team as Arregui, pushing him to boxing excellence from the ring corner, to the delight of all boxing fans.
